How to Make an Eye Catching Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and you know what that means! Time to entertain the in-laws.  This year set the table with style that they will never forget.  Here is some of my top tips that will sure to impress.

Throw in A Little White

I know it sounds silly, but a little white porcelain really makes a big difference.  I heard another designer say it once and I have always remembered.  “Your food look much more impressive on a white.”  I think that is why almost every restaurant uses it.

Bring the Outside In

I love to add a little greenery down the center of tables.  It is an expensive way to make a very elegant look.  I remember one time my father bought a new house.  He was ripping out the overgrown shrubs and vines.  Well he did not realize he has ripped out an English vine.  I say all this to say you never know what you have in your yard.  So go take a walk.  You never know what you will find.

Hit Your Local Flea Market

On our days off my mother and I hit the local flea markets.  I enjoy buying vintage serving dishes.  It adds a unique style to your tablescape, plus it does not break the bank.  When it came time for my wedding I bought lots of vintage candleholders to add to the tables.  Having the twinkle of little lights gave a romantic feel to the outside terrace.

Throw in Some Texture

Go old school and use cloth napkins or placemats. It adds a sophisticated touch to your table.  I bought these placemats years ago and love them.  They were a little pricey but I have used them time and time again.
